frequencies
frequencies examines the frequencies of Black culture—its manifold codes and concepts—as drawn from my biography as a Black German. These frequencies, manifested in pop-cultural scenes, influential figures, a sermon, song, and private archival material, reference aspects of Black culture, reflect memory, and reveal a community existing far removed from the white gaze. frequencies explores frequencies of resistance, joy, and tenderness—frequencies between Black women and Black men and their complex relationship with one another. It highlights frequencies of Black femininity and its immense influence on Black culture, Black politics, and the Black community.
